Kozytoez, The fleece blanket with a foot pocket!

Quillow, Snuggie, Slanket, or a Kozytoez???

Posted on | February 3, 2012 | No Comments

Every seen a Quillow? It’s a quilted blanket with a foot pocket. They are great on the sofa but not as cool on the plane, the train or in the car. The quilting makes them a little bulky.

How about the Snuggie or a Slanket – the fleece blanket with arms? Again, great for the sofa if you like that sort of thing! But it simply doesn’t fold easily for the plane, train or the car.

The solution is Kozytoez, the polar fleece blanket with a foot pocket. Let’s be frank…my arms don’t get cold, it’s my feet that are freezing!!! The Kozytoez pocket keeps my feet warm AND it easily folds into a pillow to slide in the side of my rolling suitcase for the plane!

Cold Feet End TODAY!

Posted on | November 8, 2010 | 1 Comment

Cold Feet – END TODAY! When the temperature dips below 65 degrees my feet get cold. beach-with-kzI shouldn’t complain…Fall in Northwest Florida is fabulous. It’s crisp and cool and the sun actually sets right over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s magnificent. But my feet still get cold when the temperature dips anywhere below 65.

My options are socks, shoes, slippers and I HATE them…NO way! Kozytoez is the my answer – the fleece blanket with a foot pocket keeps my “toez kozy” with plenty of luxurious fleece left over for my body!  My friend, Graeme, is 6′7″ tall graeme-christen-in-kz-paint1and says he’s never had a blanket long enough till now.

Me, of course, I use it on the sofa & when sitting at my desk but DON’T laugh…I use it on the beach because the pocket keeps my feet off the cool sand. Having a Kozytoez at the beach means I can stay until the last beautiful light leaves the sky. The sky AFTER the sunset is sometime the most spectacular. My Kozytoez keeps me kozy through the whole, entire event! And the sand just shakes right out when I have to fold it up and go home! beach-sunset

When my feet are warm, my whole body is warm…even on the beach! And when the temp dips below 65 degrees…well, Kozytoez is my choice…what’s yours?

How do you stay kozy?

Shingles, what the heck? DON’T let it fester.

Posted on | October 15, 2009 | 3 Comments

Shingles, oh my! Imagine a blistering rash along with stabbing pain and you’ll have an idea of what it’s like to have shingles. I used to think just elderly people got shingles.

The last thing I ever want to do is go to the doctor. No offense to my doctor friends, but there are sick people there! I broke down yesterday and took what I thought must be poison ivy (although I haven’t been playing in the forest!) on my elbow  to Dr. Lisa Clark.  And am I ever glad I did. She took one look and immediately said, “You’ve got shingles.”

How is that possible?

I don’t feel bad, maybe a little tired and thankfully my spots haven’t had that intense pain the websites describe. The spots did itch terribly but Sweet Husband had some wonderfully strong Cortisone cream that made that nasty itching stop. So I ALMOST didn’t go to the Doc!

And…Dr. Lisa tells me that she sees about ONE case every TWO weeks in her practice in the little town of Destin, FL. Some of the patients are in their teens. It’s NOT just an old person’s disease. That’s AMAZING.

KEY: Catch it early. She gave me meds that should knock it out very quickly.  I just have flu like symptoms: weakness, achiness, headache.  Nothing major.

LET IT FESTER: It can cause weird things like incredible nerve pain, nerve damage and even blindness. It can do horrible things left unchecked.

I didn’t know what I had but luckily something told me to GET TO THE DOCTOR and I’m glad I did. So now I’m just trying, hard for me, to slow down and take a nap under my Kozytoez. Thanksfully, I’ll be better soon.

Be aware if you or someone you love get’s a weird looking, sometimes painful. Now if you want more info, like what causes it, who’s most a risk for it etc., check out these websites.  They have all the correct medical scoop that I won’t even try to relate.

Hope you don’t get it and if you do you get to the doc quick!!

Monarch Butterfly Catepillars: Don’t be mad that they ate your parsley!

Posted on | October 13, 2009 | 2 Comments

I was NOT the biology major. I got my only college D in that class and that thankfully by 1 point! monarch-butterflyThe sister however, graduated top of her class in BIOLOGY so maybe I got my interest in nature through osmosis!!!

I’ve always loved Monarch Butterflies… colorful, gentle, beautiful, graceful…all those cool adjectives.

On the reverse, I DON’T like creepy, oowwwy, monarch-butterfly-2looking bugs in the garden. My first impulse is to KILL them because they are creepy.

NOOOOOooooooo don’t get out the bug spray even though they ARE going to eat ALL your parsley to the GROUND.

The good news: these funny yellow fat guys produce the beautiful Monarch Butterfly AND the parsley will grow back!!catapiller-life-cycle

I’ve watched these guys do their thing for several seasons and each year I plant more parsley so they can have some and so can I. This year, they ate it ALL down to the nubs FOUR different times this summer,  Frankly, don’t care. These guys are cool. And yes, now the parsley is growing back!

They become big yellow FAT things coming from a little egg, then  looking like a skinny pencil lead becoming about 2 inches long and fatter than a big pencil!!!  You can see huge changes from day to day.  Then they attach to a limb and build their Chrysalis.

monarch-life-cycleThis year I’ve had 4 batches of them ending with this last batch of about 40 or 50.

KEY Point: Don’t spray these cool dudes when invade your garden & eat your parsley next year.  Just plant more parsley!

God is so cool and has SUCH a sense of humor.    I have to remember NOT to get in His way with my bug spray!!!  I have to slow down and even enjoy the creepy things He makes!  But I draw the line at the cockroach!  Those things are just creepy!

Now back to your regularly recorded programming.   Science class is OVER!!!

Comfort at 35,000 feet makes travel to Italy, Hong Kong, or Cleveland a breeze! The top 11 gadgets required for travel!

Posted on | October 8, 2009 | No Comments

I love, love, love to travel. Every chance I get, just pop me on an airplane and I’m on my way! As much as I love traveling I love my travel gadgets! Travel can be stressful and I’ll do anything to be comfortable, especially when traveling over the big water…east or west!! So travel gadgets must produce or they aren’t worth me dragging them. The goal is to arrive rested, recuperated, refreshed and ready to see the sites!

Is one of the building facades an illustion. Who would want to miss this by arriving tired in Venice?

Is one of the building facades an illusion? Who would want to miss this by arriving tired in Venice?

Here’s some tips:

1. Wear comfortable clothes. Women check out Chico’s. They have a wonderful line of clothing called “Travelers” that works great for travel. Mix and match pieces in black – the perfect travel color. It’s like wearing pajamas on the plane. You look as fresh when you arrive as when you took off! Guys you’re on your own…just make it tastefully comfortable!

2. Wear comfortable shoes. Shoes that easily slip on and off help circulation of your feet. Also they make getting through security a breeze.

3. Bring your own blankie! Nothing is better than cuddling up on a plane with your own kozy blanket and if it has a place for my feet it would be perfect. Bring along a Kozytoez – the polar fleece blanket with a foot pocket that folds into a pillow. When folded it fits perfectly in the side pocket of my rolling carry-on bag. It’s so nice to not have to worry about the airline running out of blankets or having to pay a fee for a potentially nasty blanket. Kozytoez washes beautifully so it will be ready for the next trip (after the nap on the home sofa of course!).

4. Block out the world. An IPOD is a necessity on a plane with great noise canceling Bose Acclaimed QuietComfort® headphones. Bring along a portable DVD player with your favorite movies or the latest TV season set. These gadgets are a necessity when the person behind you is 2 years old and very unhappy!

5. Sit by the window. Coordinate with your airlines when booking your ticket to sit by the window. The view is better so it feels a less claustrophobic and you have something to lean against when sleeping. Also, you’ll be disturbed less by your seat mate.

6. DRINK DRINK DRINK, WATER WATER WATER! The internal atmosphere on a plane dehydrates the body which can interfere with sleep. Buy a BIG bottle of water after the security check point so you’re ready. Caffeine and nicotine can stimulate the body and get in the way of being rested when you arrive. Remember that alcoholic beverages also dehydrate the body. Hold the celebratory drinks until you get to your destination.

7. Position yourself properly. Request a seat selection in the front half of the plane. It’s usually more stable during the flight so your rest is less disturbed with turbulence.

8. Food/Snacks. Pack some fun, low salt (remember dehydration) snacks for the munchies that come with boredom. But remember that you can’t take liquids through security. A big bag of Twizzlers is so fun. Some celery & carrot sticks, pretzels, string cheese & walnuts or almonds. Also, for longer flights contact the airlines to custom order your meal. It’s usually fresher if that’s possible!

9. The Book to take me AWAY! I want to get lost in a great story when no phone, email or doorbell can bother me!! And when a nap happens, I’m ready. It’s Heaven on an airplane! It might be a story about my destination or a classic I’ve wanted to slow down for. The NY Times Best Seller List is a wonderful place to start. Loading the books on a Kindle makes it so easy. Of course, a traditional book with real pages will also. Check out the reads at amazon.com. Some people bring along their favorite magazines. They do take up less packing room and it gets tossed when you’re finished but for me, I need the great story so the Kindle is my answer.

10. A napping MUST. An eye-mask blocks the light and makes lengthy naps more consistent. The worst is getting awakened by the bright sunlight streaming in the window into your eyes. It’s a jarring wake up and not pleasant!

11. Drugs? Sometimes the only way I can sleep on a plane is with some drugs. Over the counter anti-nausea and travel medicines along with my good book can often put me right out!

Don't arrive to tired to see the view from the Peak (Hong Kong)!

Don't arrive too tired to see the view from the Peak (Hong Kong)!

There are great travel deals available NOW! Take advantage & see the world. It’s so fun! Don’t forget the camera. Send pics of your favorite trips along with your favorite travel gadgets!

Happy Travels!

It’s with great sadness that I report the passing of The Queen Mother of the Sweet Potato Queens.  Everyone should have an obit written about them with bits and pieces of this thrown in.  If you don’t agree…well, what can I say…you’ve lost your sense of humor or something.  If you don’t know who I’m talking about…go read the attached and then…if you think it’s worthy of your time…go get the book!!!

My sister, Lynn, turned me onto the Sweet Potato Queens several years ago. My mother would have especially loved the last line added to her obit – key words “mercifully brief”!

When I grow up…

Posted on | October 2, 2009 | 15 Comments

My sweet husband has two of the most fabulous people for parents.  ml-closeupI know you can’t pick your family/parents but I think I picked my husband when I met his parents!!!  They just spent 10 days with us here in Florida and to say it was delightful would be putting it mildly!!

First, let me tell you a little about them.  She’s 83 and he’s 84 and they celebrated their SIXTY-SECOND wedding anniversary while they were here.  He jokes that the secret to a happy marriage is that “she can’t fuss at you when you are kissing her!”  Well, it must be true because they are smooching all the time!!  I observed them this last 10 days and here’s my observation:  they are a team.  They both love God first, each other second, and their family third.

They occasionally do things apart when they are here:  his likes to go out to breakfast with me and help me do little projects around the house while she goes fishing with her son. the-kayakersThose two fished eight out of 10 days and they fished twice most days, early morning and just before dark.

    They caught speckled sea trout

    Team Catch & Fillet

    Team Catch & Fillet

which we enjoyed watching her son/my husband cook up for us.

We tease that she has two speeds:  Fast & off (asleep) but it’s TRUE.  She’s like a hummingbird with lots of energy. She barely weighs 100 pounds at about 4′11″!  She’s up by 7am, has her coffee, goes fishing after a quick tour of the garden to see what is blooming, then back for lunch. Then a quick 15 minute power nap and then makes cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, or lemon meringue pie or helps prep supper and then out on the kayak at 4:30 till about 7

She's ready to Go!! Notice the tiny, pink crocs!!

She's ready to Go!! Notice the, tiny pink crocs!!

and then back for dinner and dominoes till 11 or 12 or sometimes 12:30!!  He smiles at her a lot and keeps his eye peeled to see when they come back from fishing.  It’s so cute. And have I mentioned that she can’t swim a lick and is terrified of water. Talk about overcoming your fears to do something you love – fish!

They both love playing with Toby, their grandpuppy! They take him for walks and literally chase him around the house. Grandpa loves feeding him spaghetti!

pops-feeding-toby-spaghettiHe seems to enjoy doing little projects around the house to help me.   He can mastermind, design, and build anything just like my Dad used to do.  His mind is so sharp – he can out think someone half his age.  I love doing projects with him because it’s like my Dad is right beside me!!  Precious times.

    Coolest Custom Platter Rack Ever!

    Coolest Custom Platter Rack Ever!

He designed the perfect platter rack It stores my platters without chipping them & gives me easy access. It’s perfect!

Why are they so amazing?  Here are my observations:

    1.  they walk everyday, about a mile, sometimes outside, sometimes at Target or Home Depot!

    2. they eat everything, including sweets, in moderation

    3. they laugh a lot

    4. they smooch a lot

    5. they give back to their community and others that need them (together they make stuffed animals to give to the kids at the hospital and manage the flower garden at the church plus lots of other things). She designs beautiful jewelry and customizes note cards using her own photography and gives them to the church to sell & raise money. Did I mentioned that she made me the first Kozytoez I ever saw? She called it a quillow!!

    6.  he leads (was quick to tell me that he doesn’t teach) a Bible Study each week

    7.  they play cards, dominoes, pinochle, watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, all of which I believe keeps their minds sharp

    8.  they spend time with friends and family several times a week

    These cookies are AWESOME!

    These cookies are AWESOME!

    9.  She bakes wonderful things for everyone, including their church (she had to bake a cake the night they got home to take to church the next day because “they” wouldn’t take no for an answer!). She made 600 chocolate cookies for favors for our wedding and there wasn’t a single one left over!
They have an active, full life.  Is it perfect, NO!  Do they have little worries and fears at times? YES.  Don’t we all?  But they push those thoughts out of the way, get up, and go get something done for someone else.

When I grow up I want to be just like them!

Will you buy a Snuggie for your dog?

Posted on | September 10, 2009 | 1 Comment

As seen on Today at Newsvine.com
snuggie-dog
First, they took over television with a viral commercial. Then pub crawls were devoted to them. Now, Snuggies have come for the dogs.

Recently, Allstar Products introduced the pup-sized version of the product — a replica of the original with room for four legs.

___ Yes! I love my Snuggie, and I’m sure my dog would love one too.
___ No way. My dog has a fur coat. No need for this product.
___ I’m not sure yet.

Comments please.

Here’s what some others are saying.

My Lab would be overjoyed at her new tug-o-war rag….don’t see how this would work. Does it tie at the back like a hospital gown? Wouldn’t it drag on the ground at the dog’s belly if they stood up in it? Most dog garments, if needed, are over the back, not under the belly, so they do not need leg openings. Bet they don’t work as intended, unless it IS intended for tug-o-war—RRRrrrrrrr! gimme that–grrrrrrr! Hey, leggo–rrrrrrrrrRRRRRR!

I have two minature poodles, they are over weight, they weigh brtween 15 and 13 pounds, will they have them in weight size, they are in Indiana after being born and living in Texas, they get really cold in the winter when i put them out in there fenced in yard,i stand there to let them right back in after they do there jobs, they love the snow but cant take it for long. thank you for snuggies for dogs

Beware of this company. I purchased the original snuggies and had to have American Express settle my dispute. Poor product, didn’t ship what they advertised. Then months later received a check from them which looked like a rebate. If I had deposited it I would have signed up for a $29.95 per month offering. I read the very fine print on the back of the check. The state of California is investigating several companies for this practice.

Snuggie
$19.95 (Plus $7.95 shipping)

The pitch: “The blanket with sleeves!”

The reality: Testers liked the Snuggie well enough, though both men and women complained that the sleeves were too long and it took a lot of adjusting to stay comfortably covered. The brushed-polyester material didn’t shrink after five washes, but the quality is cheap.

The response: A statement from Anne Flynn, Director of Marketing at Allstar Products Group (the maker of the Snuggie): “We appreciate Good Housekeeping reviewing our Snuggie blanket with sleeves, and are happy to hear that the testers enjoyed wearing them. To explain the sleeve length, we design our Snuggie product similar to that of a blanket… We want people to be fully covered and cozy, hence the oversized fit. We have recently extended our line of Snuggie blankets, including a Microplush fabric Snuggie, that are all created with quality material that stand up well to multiple washings in our testing practices.”

Kozytoez NEEDS YOU to rate Kozytoez on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being best) and we’ll submit your thoughts to Good Housekeeping.  We don’t have Snuggie’s budget but we do have YOU.  YOU can help us spread the word about Kozytoez and we appreciate it.

That’s how Kozytoez will grow…when you tell your friends…one kozy customer at a time!  Thanks.

Breast Cancer Research, Destination Cure & Kozytoez – the Perfect Partnership

Posted on | September 3, 2009 | 6 Comments

Kozytoez is gratified when cancer patients tells us how much they enjoy their Kozytoez during treatments and during the difficult time of their disease. They tell tell us how much they love taking their Kozytoez in pillow form into the chemo room, then opening it up during treatment and feeling warm and nurtured during such a difficult time.  (click for related story).

destination-cure-team-pic

DESTINation Cure team members (L to R) Jennifer Holcombe, Jessica Jones and Jennifer Goldsby

Kozytoez is proud to be partnering with DESTINation Cure, and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Foundation.  What the heck is DESTINation Cure, you ask?  It is three fabulous businesswomen from Destin, Florida who are literally walking the walk to help find a cure for the breast cancer.

Listen to these stats:  Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women in the United States and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women age 40 to 59. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of death among women. Breast cancer accounts for 1 of every 3 cancer diagnoses among women.

That’s STARTLING.  If you are a woman in these United State or a man who loves one of these women, well, to put it bluntly, we need your help.  Ok, I understand, a lot of organizations need our help and times are tight.

First, and foremost, I’m always concerned that the money I donate is being put to good use.  I’ve done my research and one of the things that I like best about the Avon walk is that they donate some of the money to women diagnosed with the disease who don’t have the means to pay for their treatments.  AND, they also fund research to stop the disease.

Second, the DESTINation Cure women are extraordinary.   They run full time careers, families, and businesses but find the time to fight for what they believe in.  I’ve only known them a short time but I’m impressed with their drive and determination.  And they don’t plan to do this once…they are going to do it TEN times over the next TEN years!! (related article in the Walton Sun)

I quote from their DESTINation Cure Facebook page:

“For 2 days and 39 miles, we have the opportunity to dramatically impact the lives of millions affected by breast cancer worldwide.

Team DESTINation Cure destination-cure-logowill be walking in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk held in New York City on October 10 and 11, 2009.

We’re walking 26.2 miles on Saturday, and 13.1 miles on Sunday—all so that medically-underserved women and men can get the medical care they need and leading research teams can receive vital support in their ongoing search for a cure.

Our goal is to walk in all 9 cities (one per year), raise funds to find a cure for Breast Cancer, and support women, men, and families altered by this disease.

There are over 2 million Breast Cancer Survivors alive today in the United States and the number of survivors today seems to be declining. This is thought to be due to a combination of early detection and more effective treatments.

We won’t sit on the sidelines to wait for the cure. We are fighting for our mothers, sisters, nieces, friends, fathers, brothers. nephews, and loved ones. Join us today. Donate or walk with us. Either way, don’t sit on the sidelines but get out there and fight for the cure.”

KozytoezSo how can you help? Stock up on Kozytoez for everyone on your gift list.  A portion of each Kozytoez sold through DESTINation Cure goes to help them on their walk and ultimately to help women with the disease.

Kozytoez is proud to be in partnership with DESTINation Cure.  Check out kozytoez.com and have it embroidered your way.  Personalize Kozytoez your way!Makes Christmas shopping so easy…everyone loves Kozytoez especially when they are personalized.   Just say at phone order (if you’re local) 850-897-1957 or at checkout on the website that you’re with DESTINation Cure and we’ll get the funds to them.  Special locals pricing with no shipping charges – Classic (plain) Kozytoez is 2 for $30 and embroidered your way 1 for $30.

Ten Myths About Airline Travel

Posted on | September 1, 2009 | 1 Comment

1. Airplanes always depart on time.
2. Airplanes always arrive on time.
3. Airplane tickets are always cheap.
4. Airline customer service is always helpful.
5. Airlines NEVER loose your luggage.
6. Airlines always have great food…especially peanuts!
7. Airport security is always fast.
8. Airline blankets are always available.
9. Airline blankets are always cleaned after each use.
10. Airline blankets are NEVER drooled upon.

Moral to the story: control what you can.  Pack a good attitude and a Kozytoez for your next trip!

Kozytoez, the fleece blanket with a foot pocket that folds into a pillow is perfect for your next trip.  It makes the delays feel shorter, the lack of peanuts less noticeable, the naps more enjoyable, any stress just melt away into this kozy little fleece blanket.  _mg_1462

Kozytoez: is it just a fleece Quillow?

Posted on | August 21, 2009 | No Comments

Kozytoez:  is it just a fleece Quillow?  Quillows have been around for over 100 years, literally.  The first patent for a quillow was issued in 1835! They are usually homemade with love from quilted fabric.  It’s very similar to a Kozytoez (blanket with a foot pocket that folds into a pillow) except Kozytoez are made from polar fleece.

Kozytoez started when Jay’s Mom, Marilyn, made me the most beautiful Quillow.  I loved it and napped in it, worked at my desk in it, basically lived in it that first winter.  One weekend, Jay & I went on a road trip to Clayton, in the north Georgia mountains and I was cold the whole time.  Just couldn’t get warm in the car.  He was sitting in the sun and kept turning on the air conditioner.  I was freezing.  The next time we went away, I took my Quillow.  I loved being warm but it was too bulky for the car.  I looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy over there in my seat!!

On the way home, Jay and I talked about how much I loved my Quillow but didn’t like the bulkiness and he complained it took up too much room in the car when not in use.  He doesn’t like feeling like the Beverly Hillbillies during road trips, you know stuff piled on top of the roof.  Anyway, I digress!!  As we talked I was reminded how Jay has a background of bringing products to market.  Ok…we’ve only known each other for 5 years and I can’t remember everything!  I digress again…we decided we wanted a lightweight, portable blanket and…Kozytoez was born.  We chose polar fleece for the fabric because I just love that fabric, warm but not heavy or bulky.  And, since it’s made from recyclable plastic it’s environmentally friendly.

Now we use our Kozytoez for every road trip and on the plane, on the couch, on the dock, at the beach, on the train, on the cruise ship, at the desk, at the stadium etc. etc. etc.  Jay loves it because it folds into a pillow and doesn’t take up much room in the car!  I love it because I’m warm!  And when my feet are warm, my whole body is warm!  Never mind those blankets with sleeves…what are they called again…I forget.  What are they thinking, Kozytoez is much kozier!

Have you ever seen a Quillow?  Tell us about it.

CNN Reports – My Baby is for Sale? Horrified Mom see baby for sale online.

CNN Reports – My Baby is for Sale? A Massachusetts mom finds out someone is using her baby in an adoption scam. WCVB’s Sean Kelly has the story.

Are the pictures you post on facebook and in your personal BLOGS safe from someone doing this or worse to you?

First, the good news: this baby was never put in ANY danger.

FACEBOOK: One of the reasons I first joined facebook was to see all the cute pictures of my family and friend’s fabulous, beautiful children. We even got Jay’s 82 year old Mom a facebook page so she could keep up as well.

Last week I got a message from my fabulous blogging niece-in-law about safety precautions on facebook. She says, “Did you know that facebook as agreed to let third party advertisers use your posted pictures without your permission?” Julie says you can stop this by clicking on “settings” at the top. Then select “Privacy.” Then select “News Feed and Wall.” Next, select the tab that reads “facebook Ads.” In the drop down box, select “No One.” Then make sure to save your changes.

Ok…now I feel like my facebook photos are safe. Please do this on your facebook and tell your friends.

NOW LET’S DISCUSS BLOGS SECURITY: I have a lot of fun following friends/family personal blogs showing the cutest pictures of these fabulous families.  According this article on CNN today someone can steal those photos and use them in various ways…like a bogus adoption plot.

Since anyone can read your blog, what kind of security do we need there??? How do we protect these beautiful children.  HELP – someone more knowledgable than me, please TELL US!!!

Bottom line: I’m amazed with people…with that kind of ingenuity, if those “bad guys” could use their time coming up with things to help humanity in stead of hurt it, well, they would be millionaires and would sleep better. Sleep better, because they would never have to worry about going to jail!! That’s why I can’t do anything illegal…because I’m toooooo scared of jail!!

Yes, here at the Kozytoez blog, sometimes we talk about Kozytoez, the koziest blanket of all time and sometimes we talked about other important things of life. I hope you’ll subscribe to see what’s coming next.

NOW…would someone please tell us how to protect these beautiful pictures on the personal blogs so I can continue to safely see them!!????? It is ALL about me you know!!!

Breaking Eco News Greenise Exposes The Truth About Kozytoez

Posted on | August 2, 2009 | No Comments

Now everyone knows that the Kozytoez blanket measures 40?x70?, and is made from 100% anti-pill polar fleece. And everyone who has had the privilege of buying a Kozytoez knows the edges are blanket stitched and the foot pocket is reinforced. But what most folks don’t know is how the Kozytoez stands up to the Eco-Friendly test!

Well instead of relying on Kozytoez corporate for the answer, we called the founders of Kozytoez and asked them if they would send us one of their flagship Kozytoez blankets so we could test the blanket in our testing labs (our living room), and see for ourselves just how eco-friendly it truly is. Does Snuggie Really Work

“Snuggie Review” Snuggie vs. Kozytoez

Guest Blogger:  Sharon Moon

Last winter, I was in Arizona taking care of my Dad and it was cold.  Unfortunately, I left my Kozytoez back in Florida and Dad wouldn’t part with his!  He kindly bought me a Snuggie.  I used it for the several weeks I was there and this is what I discovered.

Snuggie . . . the fleece blanket with built in sleeves.
Pros :
•    Sleeves in the blanket allow you to work the TV remote, drink your coffee or read a book and still be warm
Cons:
•    Sleeves are too long and get in the way
•    71” (5’11”) length makes it too long for the average person to get up and walk around as advertised.  You can get tangled up in it.
•    Falls away from your neck when sitting up straight like at your desk
•    Does not fold easily for portability

Kozytoez . . . the fleece blanket with a foot pocket that folds into a pillow.
Pros:
•    Foot pocket at the bottom of the blanket keeps your feet warm
•    Blanket is extra long for even a 6’5” person to have enough blanket to cover you while your feet are still warm in the foot pocket
•    Folds neatly into the pocket to form a pillow making it portable
Cons:
•    Doesn’t have sleeves

Review of Snuggie   Sharon’s Rating = 3 (on a scale of  1 to 10 with 10 being the highest)

Snuggie is very useful when lying on the sofa watching TV or reading and it keeps my arms warm.  However, the fabric is just too soft and flimsy so it keeps falling around you all the time.  I found it difficult to keep it around my neck when sitting or at my desk.  I also didn’t like the length of the sleeves; they are too long and always seemed to get in the way of what I was trying to accomplish.   They even ended up in my coffee cup!

The Snuggie is 71” long, plenty of length for me (5’8”) as long as I didn’t move around. When it is chilly, I like to use a blanket to have my feet covered while reading or working on my laptop.   The length was a problem when I wanted to get another cup of coffee.  It was too long to walk across the room and a pain to take it off to move around.

And it certainly isn’t portable.  I suppose could be useful for pub crawls or sporting events but there was no way that I was going out in public in a Snuggie or even using it on an airplane so you don’t get that vantage point!

On the whole, a good product but limited to the sofa only, reading or watching TV.

Review of Kozytoez     Sharon’s Rating = 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest)

I have to make something clear up front, I find that when my feet are warm, my whole body feels warmer.  I can’t stand it when my feet are cold.

I use my Kozytoez on the sofa while watching TV.     There is plenty of width (40”) to cover my arms and still let me stick them out to get what I need or hold my book.  I also like using it at my desk or sitting and working on my laptop and it works great.  It keeps my legs and feet warm without being too hot.

A great benefit to me is that it’s so portable:  the car, plane or train – folds into its own little pocket and fits right in the side of my carry-on suitcase. Those blankets on airplanes, if there are any, are awful.  I really like having my own.

It’s so comforting when you’re feeling under the weather, recouping at home or going to the medical center for treatments.  My Dad really enjoyed his during his final days.

There is plenty of length, even for someone much taller than my 5’8” (would work well for someone 6’2”+) and my feet don’t creep out during a nap.

The fabric, without being too heavy, is quite thick & luxurious to the touch.  And the fabric doesn’t slide around on you, it stays in place!

I also like that my body temperature can be regulated by folding the upper portion of the blanket down over my lap so I’m never too warm.  I can also easily step out of it to get more coffee.

And when it’s personalized with embroidery, no one can take my Kozytoez away!

The bottom line:

Snuggie is great if you want a blanket to sit on the sofa and stay warm.

Kozytoez is great lying down or sitting up and it’s portable for the plane, train or car!  And warm feet for me equals warm body.  I like that it can be personalized.

Thanks, Sharon.  There you have it, ladies and gentlemen, an unbiased opinion.  What’s yours?

Swine Flu – Update

Posted on | July 17, 2009 | No Comments

Follow-up on Michaela’s story:  Michaela out!she was released yesterday from the hospital!  YEAH!!.  She’s back with Surfing the Nations preparing for her next adventure.  You can continue to follow her story at www.mobilelikethewind.  We are so grateful!!!

Swine Flu Gets Personal

Posted on | July 15, 2009 | 2 Comments

Swine flu is all over the news.  Ok, not so much right here in our local USA neighborhoods, but if you follow international news, it’s a huge story.  It’s winter in the southern hemisphere and swine flu is on the rise there.  Related article:  http://www.baliblog.com/featured-articles/bali-and-the-swine-flu.html

Has the media over sensationalized this like they do so many other things?  Maybe.  But it becomes much more real when someone you know is personally affected.

Last Friday, Michaela Partin, a 19 year-old missionary from Shoreline Church in Destin, Fl, was diagnosed with Swine Flu while working with Surfing the Nations in Bali.

Last trip to Bali

Last trip to Bali

Michaela is currently quarantined for 7 days in an Indonesian government hospital, completely alone, far away from her loving parents in Florida, in a country where she speaks a little of their language and they spoke less of hers.   Then there was the earthquake on Monday that made her think the brakes were off on her hospital bed.  On top of all of that, she witnessed the man in the room next to hers, only separated by glass, die last night of the same disease she has.

Let’s just say, it’s been a lot for a 19 year old to deal with.

Her mother, Darlene, tells me that the thing Michaela is MOST worried about right now is that the Indonesian government won’t let her stay and continue her work.  After all of this, she wants to stay there.

Let me share a little of what makes Michaela so special.  A direct quote from her blog www.mobilelikethewind.com before all this happened:  “So she told me,  “Well you are not like all the other Christians I have met. If I am praying or on my way to ceremony, you do not tell me that I’m wrong, but want to know about what I am doing and why I am doing it. You don’t try to change me; you are more like Balinese people. Peaceful with each other. But I am sad because you are like us, but you are not Hindu.” It was such a compliment to know that I have made an impression of love on her heart instead of forcing anything on her.”

That is the story of how a 19 year old, wise young women is reminding me, a MUCH older women, (!) how I want to be with people.   How I want to attract people by my faith, not push it down their throats.

Where does that kind of strength come from in such a young women.  Well, if you are a believer in a Higher Power, which I choose to call God, then you know.

Michaela, all I can say is God speed, sweet girl.  Keep kicking that swine flu in the butt.  You will be rewarded over your lifetime for all the lives you touch in your very special way.   AND it will make for a great book or movie!!  You’re doing it right.

I’d rather be fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, golfing, or at the beach

Posted on | July 13, 2009 | No Comments

Here I sit, mid July, beautiful summer day, 85 degrees and I’d rather be fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, golfing, or at the beach.  Instead I’m spending my afternoon coming up with content for our new Kozytoez Blog.

Just saying that sounds so stupid!!!  It’s 85 degrees and I’m going to blog about a blanket.  Come on!  Even if it is the BEST blanket in the world (better than the Snuggie).   Ok, I’m a little prejudice but it is, really!!

But then the phone rings and my friend tells me about her sister who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is starting her chemo treatments.  She tells me how she gave her a Kozytoez and how her sister loves it so much; how she loves that it folds into a pillow so she can easily take it into the hospital; how cold it is in the treatment rooms but she’s all warm in her Kozytoez.  She tells me how all the other patients at the cancer center are asking her sister where she got her blanket and how she tells them that “this isn’t just a blanket, it’s a Kozytoez!” And she loved that we could personalize it with the angel and the pink ribbon embroidery.

Breast Cancer Awareness Embroidery on Kozytoez

Well, ok, now I know why I’m doing this.  It IS the most fabulous blanket in the world.  And you know the last thing my friend said?  “When I feel so helpless about how to help my sister with all this, well, the Kozytoez seems to be giving her so much comfort it give me comfort.”

So, what moron considers buying a blanket of any description in July?  Someone who wants to comfort someone who needs to be comforted, I guess!!!

Now off to the beach!!

PS.  A portion of every Kozytoez sold embroidered with the pink ribbon goes to Breast Cancer Awareness.

Kozytoez, n – a  fleece blanket with a foot pocket.  Measuring 40″x70″ long for extra tall people.  Kozy for afternoon naps or when you are feeling under the weather.  Then folds into a pillow so it’s perfect for the car, plane or the game.

Note:  yes, we spelled it wrong on purpose!!  Kozytoez are about fun and what’s more fun than having a fun word to say and then spelling it WRONG.  We hope you enjoy having kozy toez with Kozytoez!!
