Shingles, what the heck? DON’T let it fester.

Shingles, oh my! Imagine a blistering rash along with stabbing pain and you’ll have an idea of what it’s like to have shingles. I used to think just elderly people got shingles.
The last thing I ever want to do is go to the doctor. No offense to my doctor friends, but there are sick people there! I broke down yesterday and took what I thought must be poison ivy (although I haven’t been playing in the forest!) on my elbow
to Dr. Lisa Clark. And am I ever glad I did. She took one look and immediately said, “You’ve got shingles.”
How is that possible?

Usually appears on torso or neck. Key is to get to your doctor QUICKLY
I didn’t think my resistance was low. I don’t feel bad, maybe a little tired and thankfully my spots haven’t had that intense pain the websites describe. The spots did itch terribly but Sweet Husband had some wonderfully strong Cortisone cream that made that nasty itching stop. So I ALMOST didn’t go to the Doc!
And…Dr. Lisa tells me that she sees about ONE case every TWO weeks in her practice in the little town of Destin, FL. Some of the patients are in their teens. It’s NOT just an old person’s disease. That’s AMAZING.
KEY: Catch it early. She gave me meds that should knock it out very quickly. I just have flu like symptoms: weakness, achiness, headache. Nothing major.
LET IT FESTER: It can cause weird things like incredible nerve pain, nerve damage and even blindness. It can do horrible things left unchecked.
I didn’t know what I had but luckily something told me to GET TO THE DOCTOR and I’m glad I did. So now I’m just trying, hard for me, to slow down and take a nap under my Kozytoez. Thanksfully, I’ll be better soon.
Be aware if you or someone you love get’s a weird looking, sometimes painful. Now if you want more info, like what causes it, who’s most a risk for it etc., check out these websites. They have all the correct medical scoop that I won’t even try to relate.
Hope you don’t get it and if you do you get to the doc quick!!

Thank heavens you went to the doctor. Who would have thought? Good post to warn people to get a rash like that checked. We too often let things go thinking it’s nothing, when it really does need treated. Rest and get well soon!

I had shingles on my side and it was very painful. I am glad they caught it early as when I had it they just didn’t know and I even had an x-ray. There was no med. It is stress related so get lots of rest. It is catching only if someone gets in contact with the blisters. In fact I just asked my Doctor about it and there is a vaccine. Take care and I hope you don’t have too much pain. Love M & L

My niece had shingles when she was four. Late diagnosis with her because no one expected someone that young to have them. Her grandma diagnosed it.
Chalk one for all the grandmas in the world!!!!!!
p.s. Do you have shingles?
